Farmer's Market Finds

Every Saturday morning, Luie and I get up and head to the farmer's market. We are fortunate enough to have a small farmer's market within walking distance. It's small, but it has everything I could ask for, local fruits and vegetables, local honey, homemade breads, local beef, and a coffee guy that sells free-trade organic coffee. I was really excited this morning because the guy at the vegetable stand had green tomatoes (fried green tomatoes coming soon!). Most of the vendors know Luie by name, so of course he can't wait to head out the door to see his fan club and meet new dogs. We tread back home in the heat, produce in hand, put everything away, then head outside with a cup of coffee and Southern Livings magazine... perfect Saturday. I always find something unexpected (this week, they had eggplant!) that inspires a weekday meal. Last week I picked up some zucchini and made a phenomenal loaf of zucchini bread, recipe to follow.
